Mario J. DeMelo, 79, of Mars, Adams Township, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home.

Born in Oct. 1, 1936, Rio, Brazil, he was the son of Joao and Maria Joaquina DeMelo.

Mario had been a business owner and foreman. He was a veteran of the Brazilian Army.

A member of St. Kilian Church, he loved going to Mass, being with his family, cruising and soccer.

He was the beloved husband of Julieta Lopes DeMelo, whom he married July 10, 1957; the loving father of Maria Alves (Abilio) of Warrendale and Marilyn Kosuda (Richard Jr.) of Mars; the much loved grandfather of Abilio Alves Jr., (Valerie), Michele Alves and Nicole Kosuda; the great-grandfather of Lorena Alves; the brother of John DeMelo (Luiza), Lisinio “Lee” DeMelo (Deanna), Alice Soares, Elza DeMelo (Jose) and Teresa Carvalho (Francisco), all in New York; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Nelson DeMelo; and his sister, Maria Alves.

DEMELO — Friends of Mario J. DeMelo, who died Sunday, July 3, 2016, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, with the Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating.Entombment will be at the Mausoleum at Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Township.Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
