David Leroy Rihel
David Leroy Rihel, 71, of Harrisville passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grove City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1940, in Marion Township, he was the son of John Henry Rihel and Mabel Isabelle Vorous Rihel.
On Oct. 19, 1963, he married Linda L. Clark.
In 1999, he retired from Slippery Rock University, where he worked on buildings and grounds for 26 years. Previously he was employed by the former Jerry Ritts Lumber Co. in Hilliards. In his younger years he worked on the Pizor farm in Jackson Center, Mercer County.
He was a member of the Harrisville Deer Hunters. He enjoyed camping, horse shows and spending time with his children.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Robin Podvasnik and her husband, Lenny, of Cochranton, Crawford County, and Jeff Rihel and his wife, Beth, of Stoneboro, Mercer County; one sister, Nancy M. Kriley and her husband, John, of Butler; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Winder; two brothers, Ralph E. “Bub” Rihel and Clair R. Rihel; and one great-grandchild, Brayden Meier.
<B>RIHEL</B> — Visitation for David Leroy Rihel, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, will be at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. G. Kenton Shaw, retired pastor, officiating.The burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
