Adams residents pump supervisors for answers
ADAMS TWP. — Monday night’s public comment period was lively as residents asked supervisors what they knew about a sewage pump station for the Cypress Fields development at the bottom of Good Luck Lane.
Resident Tina Wilson reminded supervisors she was advised at the July 22 meeting to speak to Breakneck Creek Regional Authority about her concerns for the expansion of the station.
Wilson reported Monday night she went to the Breakneck meeting in July.
“They want me to come back to you,” Wilson said, adding that Breakneck provided her with a copy of a drawing of what the station will look like.
“What shocked me was the date on the drawing is March 26,” Wilson said. “(We) have not heard about this at all.”
Wilson said she measured the size of the former pump station and compared it to the new station, saying it’s “more than tripled.”
She wanted to discuss the plans with supervisors, but was unable to get the topic on Monday’s agenda.
Wilson said she was notified at work by neighbors Aug. 7 that an 11-foot wall was being installed around the station.
“After that phone call, I have to say, I was disappointed,” Wilson said. “And quite honestly, I’ve lost all trust in you, the elected public officials.”
Wilson specified she didn’t understand how the “structure” wasn’t brought before supervisors for approval. She also said the structure around the sewage station should be owned and maintained by the sewage authority, not the homeowners association.
Other residents voiced concerns that there’s no oversight once a development is approved and ground is broken.
Cypress Fields developer Terry Bove addressed comments from residents that the station “dominates” the area and does not look nice.
“We’re doing our best to make it look attractive,” Bove said. “It’s difficult to sit here and be ridiculed and chastised for something that we’re spending our dollars for.”
Bove said the 11-foot “enclosure” being installed will be duly worked on. He does not want the project to take a day longer than necessary. Bove said work also will be done on the storm line.
Supervisors thanked him for his input.
