Kay McLafferty
Kay C. McLafferty, 79, of Butler, passed away, Saturday morning, May 25, 2024.
She was born June 8, 1944, in Butler and was a daughter of the late Gerald Fleeger and Violet (Webb) Fleeger.
Kay received a degree in education from Clarion University and worked for the Butler Area School District at Clearfield Elementary School, retiring in June of 1978, to care for her family.
Kay was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, as well as the Butler Teachers Union. She was a self-taught artist, painting in oil, acrylics and watercolors. Kay enjoyed writing poetry and children’s stories, gardening, music and fishing, and she loved animals.
She is survived by her husband, Robert McLafferty, whom she married in March of 1977; her children, Jason B. (Dania) McLafferty of Canton, Ohio, Erin K. (Thomas) Duvall of Harmony and Ryan P. McLafferty of Butler; siblings, Dale Fleeger of Fort Worth, Texas, Dennis (Regina) Fleeger of Butler and Joyce (Rick) Eckman of Cambridge, Vt.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Mineo.
MCLAFFERTY — Friends of Kay C. McLafferty, who died Saturday, May 25, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian, Butler Township.
Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.
Donations are requested to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
