Warren Montag
Warren John Montag, 87, of Verona, Pa., passed into his eternal heavenly life on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a long battle with cancer and ultimately pulmonary disease and their complications.
Warren was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Jefferson Center, Pa., the son of Franklin Edward Montag and Frances W. (Doubet) Montag.
Warren was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1954, where he met Martha, his wife of 67 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Gifted with a mind for problem solving and a lifelong thirst for knowledge, he went on to acquire degrees in electrical, civil and electronic engineering.
Having worked since a young age on the family dairy farm, Warren was inspired with an unshakable work ethic and was employed full time for 66 years until the age of 85, when he retired. He supervised maintenance of various manufacturing companies including Wiegand, Woodings, Haskell, US Tool and Die and Holtec. He was a member of First Reformed Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills, Pa.
Warren will be lovingly remembered by his surviving wife, Martha P. (McCall) Montag; daughter, Linda J. Montag of New York City; son, David F. (Charity) Montag of Asheville, Pa.; twin sister, Joanne Donovan; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin; mother, Frances; infant daughter, Karen Lynn Montag; and sister, Marilyn (Montag) Hines.
MONTAG — Interment for Warren John Montag, who died Monday, May 13, 2024, was in the Summit Presbyterian Cemetery, Butler.
