Last week Anthony Hollock of Penn Township won the third annual Mr. Broadway contest in New York City, his new home.

Plucked from his day job in the cast of "Hair" to participate in the contest, he competed in talent, interview and, yes, swimsuit categories.

Other contestants came from the casts of the Broadway musicals "Little Mermaid," "Wicked," "Lion King" and "Billy Elliot."

The event boasted judges such as Ana Gasteyer, former "Saturday Night Live" comedienne who has also appeared in "Wicked," but the voting was left to the audience of about 800. The event is a fundraiser for the Ali Forney Center in New York.

All this attention is on top of his show's revival. "Hair" opened earlier this year on Broadway after its brief late summer run last year outdoors at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park to commemorate the musical's 40th anniversary.

"I am positively overwhelmed with the amount of prosperity that has come my way," said Hollock, whose long curly locks are his own.

"I am glad to say that I am where I am by life lessons taught by my parents: follow your heart, love your neighbor as yourself, remember my manners, smile, and to never forget where I came from ... Butler Memorial Hospital!"

Just two years ago, the new Point Park University graduate made his off-Broadway debut in the tribe of "Hair." Now he's working every day on Broadway, with two shows on Wednesdays and Sundays, charity events thrown in and rare days off.Tonight he will perform with the his castmates from "Hair" on "The Late Show with David Letterman" scheduled to start at 11:30 p.m. on CBS, which is Channel 2 in the Pittsburgh market.He also reminded everyone to watch the Tony Awards on June 7, also on CBS.The Knoch High School alumnus is the son of John and Gloria Hollock of Penn Township.<br></br><br></br><br></br>
