Ryan Prokay of Grove City shot an 80 at the recent Keystone Public Golf Association's P.J. Boatwright Junior Qualifier to tie two other golfers, but Connor Cronkhite was named medalist by a match of scorecards.

Prokay, competing in the Division C boys division at Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs, finished in second place and Jeffrey Earll of Erie was third.

Cameron Peterson , playing for the Grove City Country Club, tied for sixth place out of 111 golfers in the 14-17 age division of the Pennsylvania Junior Championship at Penn National Golf Club's Founders Course in Fayetteville.Peterson fired a 71-73-144, six strokes behind champion Jimmy Markovitz of The Club at Nevillewood.

At the Southwest PA Junior Golf Tour at Village Green Golf Club in Hickory Thursday, Marissa DeCola of Butler captured the 11-and-under girls division and Mark DeCola tied for first in the boys 8-and-under division.Marissa won with a score of 61 in nine holes; Mark tied Luke Miler with a 53 on nine holes.

There will be a golf tournament beginning at 7:30 a.m. July 30 at Lake Arthur Country Club to benefit area Senior Olympics participants.Cost for the four-person scramble is $65 and includes buffet lunch afterwards. There are four divisions: men, men's 50+, women and women 50+. There is also a Chinese auction, putting and chipping contest as well as cash prizes. Hiland Golf Course will host the Best Dress Golf Tournament Aug. 14. Proceeds benefit the Victim Outreach Intervention Center.The 7:30 a.m. shotgun start features a four-person, best-ball scramble from the ladies tees.Golfers will be allowed three clubs. The second annual PH Cure Golf Outing will be held at noon Aug. 27 at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club.The day includes golf, lunch, dinner, skill prizes, raffle prizes and an auction, with 100 percent of all net proceeds going to Pulmonary Hypertension research.PH is a rare and potentially life threatening disease that causes high blood pressure in the lungs. A golf scramble to benefit the Dr. H. William Knab Medical Scholarship Fund is scheduled for Aug. 26 at Saxon Golf Course.Registration begins at 11 a.m. for the noon shotgun start. GIBSONIA - Treesdale Golf and Country Club will host the Paul Wilhelm LPGA Charity Pro-Am benefit today for the Mars Home for Youth.The one-of-a-kind outing, which raised more than $35,000 for Mars Home for Youth, pairs each foursome with a LPGA Tour Golf Professional in a scramble golf event.In addition, the club hosts a juniors golf clinic with the LPGA players on putting, chipping, irons and woods.Community and local businesses are invited to participate as foursomes and/or tee sponsors. Oakview Golf Club will host a weekly junior clinic and a one-week youth camp taught by head golf professional Matt Morgan.The weekly clinic runs from 9 to 11 a.m. each Monday beginning July 18 and ending Aug. 27. The annual Rachel A. Mogielski Scholarship Fund golf outing will be held Saturday at Lakevue North golf course.Golfers may choose from a morning or afternoon shotgun start. Cost is $60 per golfer.Rachel Mogielski died from juvenile diabetes at age 12 in 1997. Family and friends began this golf outing in her honor in 1998.
