Shirley Ann Rock, 87, of Butler, formerly of Goldwood Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Born April 30, 1937, in Butler, Shirley was the daughter of the late Michael “Mike” and Anna Rock.

Shirley graduated from Butler High School in 1954 and entered nursing school, training at Butler Memorial Hospital. After graduating and becoming a registered nurse, she went to San Francisco, Calif., and worked as a private duty nurse at various hospitals. She returned home in 1964 to take care for her ailing father, and opened the Collectible Shop, dealing in antiques. She also worked for the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler and then the Butler Transit Authority. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, traveling, reading, movies and Facebook on her computer.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Surviving are her brother, Donald Rock of Export, Pa.; niece, Carrie Izydore of Bethel Park; and niece Terri Edmiston, great-nephew, Tyler Edmiston, great-niece, Kira Edmiston, and great-great-nephew, Rowan, all of Duncansville, Pa.

ROCK — Friends of Shirley Ann Rock, who died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Doug Lorance will officiate. Interment to be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.
