Virginia McClymonds
Virginia A. “Ginny” McClymonds, 90, of Grove City, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, at Newhaven Court at Clearview assisted living facility in Butler.
Virginia was born in the village of Millbrook, Mercer County, on June 25, 1933, to Clifford E. and Annabelle (Smith) Patterson. She married Richard K. McClymonds on June 20, 1953, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2010.
She was an active member of North Liberty Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, volunteered, helped and served with many activities from Bible study, vacation Bible school and Sunday school to luncheons and dinner functions throughout the years. She participated regularly with the Presbyterian Women’s Group and always enjoyed those times of fellowship.
Virginia retired from PNC Bank of Grove City, where she was employed for many years and went through several organizational name changes. She had quite the banking history in Grove City. Whether she was working the drive-through window or a walk-up teller station, customers were always met with her warm smile and cheerful, friendly demeanor.
Other than church activities, Ginny spent most of her time raising her son and daughter and participating in their activities, all while enjoying life on the small country farm in North Liberty. She and Richard enjoyed some limited travel later in life. A favorite trip was to Germany. Grandchildren were always top of the list and trips to California were of great joy. After Richard passed, Ginny enjoyed time with friends, going to lunches, working out at the YMCA and visiting, particularly with her neighbors in and around Nelson Street. Turning 90 was a milestone last year, and enjoying it with family and friends meant a great deal to Virginia.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Lynn Schulte and husband, Aaron, of Wilton, Calif.; and Mark McClymonds and wife, Susan, of Butler; and four grandchildren, Makayla Schulte, Megan McClymonds, Kelsey Schulte and Jenna McClymonds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Jean Braine.
The family would like to say a special thank-you to all the care providers at Newhaven Court at Clearview for the special and loving care that Ginny was provided while she was there, and particularly her last few weeks. She was deeply touched by everyone who cared for her.
