22-year-old Butler motorcyclist killed in Route 422 crash Sunday
Officials have identified the 22-year-old man who was killed after crashing his motorcycle on Route 422 in Butler Township on Sunday afternoon, April 28.
Township police identified the man as Gabriel Bishop, of Butler, in a news release Monday morning.
According to police, the crash occurred around 3:08 p.m. Sunday on eastbound Route 422 between Duffy and Mercer roads.
Police said Bishop crashed his motorcycle as he attempted to pass a pickup truck and clipped its rear bumper. Documents showed Bishop was fatally injured.
Route 422’s eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour as police investigated. Dispatch reports indicated crews were on scene for over three hours.
Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Butler City Bureau of Fire, Butler Ambulance Service and state police also responded to the scene.
A GoFundMe account has been started by Sherri Mckibbin on behalf of Bishop’s family.
“My nephew Gabe Bishop was killed in a motorcycle accident today,” she said in the Sunday post. “This young man was such a light and force. His contagious smile and easy ways made people flock to him. His mom needs some help to bury her beautiful boy.”
