Draft day here at last
Finally, it is Draft Day, the real life NFL Selection Meeting, which was pushed back nearly a month because ...
Well, no one really knows the because.
It did give draft experts more time to brew up their mock drafts. I used the extra time to hone my first-round mock masterpiece.
And, here it is:
No. 1, Texans: OLB Khalil Mack.
No. 2, Rams: DE Jadeveon Clowney.
No. 3, Jaguars: WR Sammy Watkins. The most electrifying player in the draft goes to the most boring team.
No. 4, Browns: QB Johnny Football. Thus locking Manziel’s bust status in stone.
No. 5, Raiders: OT Craig Robinson. Raiders mistakenly take “Hot Tub Time Machine” comedian instead of Alabama tackle Greg Robinson. Mel Kiper says, “It’s the Raiders.”
No. 6, Falcons: OT Taylor Lewan.
No. 7, Buccaneers: WR Mike Evans.
No. 8, Vikings: QB Blake Bortles.
No. 9, Bills: OT Jake Matthews.
No. 10, Lions: CB Justin Gilbert.
No. 11, Titans: CB Kyle Fuller.
No. 12, Giants: OT Zach Martin. Eli Manning will get fewer views from his back of the fall sky in the Meadowlands.
No. 13, Rams: FS Calvin Pryor.
No. 14, Bears: ILB C.J. Mosley. Chicago is giddy to see ‘Bama backer fall to them.
No. 15, Steelers: CB Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. I am praying to the football gods to make this happen because I love saying his name.
No. 16, Cowboys: DT Aaron Donald.
No. 17, Ravens: CB Darqueze Dennard.
No. 18, Jets: WR Odell Beckham.
No. 19, Dolphins: OLB Anthony Barr.
No. 20, Cardinals: QB Derek Carr. They hope he doesn’t turn out like his shell-shocked older brother, David.
No. 21, Packers: TE Eric Ebron.
No. 22, Eagles: OLB Ryan Shazier.
No. 23, Chiefs: WR Brandin Cooks.
No. 24, Bengals: CB Jason Verrett.
No. 25, Chargers: DT Louis Nix.
No. 26, Browns: QB Teddy Bridgewater. Because in the two hours since Cleveland took Manziel, Johnny Football has been thrown out of two Manning QB camps and a YouTube video of his drunken exploits are all over the Internet.
No. 27, Saints: C Marcus Martin.
No. 28, Panthers: WR Marqise Lee. Because I’m currently third on the Carolina WR depth chart.
No. 29, Patriots: OT Morgan Moses. Because now Moses can team with Football Jesus.
No. 30, 49ers: CB Bradley Roby.
No. 31, Broncos: OT Joel Bitonio. Because Peyton is one hit away from become Eli.
No. 32, Seahawks: CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste. As Seattle proved last year you can never have too many CBs.
