John ‘Jack’ Brain
John “Jack” William Brain, 76, of Butler, formerly of Prospect, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, after an illness.
Jack was born in Ellwood City on Aug. 26,1947, and was the son of Charles William and Mae Claire Allen Brain.
He was a 1965 graduate of Slippery Rock High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a lance corporal and was the recipient of the Purple Heart with the Gold Star.
Jack retired from AK Steel in Butler. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Butler and a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora, and was a member of the North Main Street Church of God in Butler. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, farming and reading the Bible.
Survivors include one son, Chad (Bonnie) Brain of Butler; one daughter, Laura (Andy) Graham of Renfrew; one brother, Richard Brain of Prospect; one sister, Bernadette (Jim) Gallo of Butler; one sister-in-law, Kim Brain; two grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) Titler and Alexandra Graham; three great-grandchildren, Joey, Drew and Carter; and several nephews and nieces.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roger.
BRAIN — A memorial service for John “Jack” William Brain, who died Saturday, April 20, 2024, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Extension, Butler.
Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society.
