The Slippery Rock University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams each finished third overall at the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C., over the weekend.

Andi Rose won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds on the women's side, which is a provisional mark for the NCAA Championships. She won the 400 hurdles in 1:03.78.

Slippery Rock High graduate Melissa Sopher finished second in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.13.

The Rock's 1,600 relay team won with a time of 3:58.16, and Jennifer Hansen won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 3.60 meters.

On the men's side, Chris Geddis won the 1,500-meter run in 4:09.23 and Nate Hardic won the javelin with a throw of 53.49 meters.

Both SRU teams will compete at the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays Friday.

SRU's women's water polo team scored a 9-8 win over Gannon in triple overtime at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.Erika Brunner scored five goals in the victory. Beth Choike added two goals, while Ashley Goodwill and Betsy Wilson had one each. Lauren Surbaugh had 21 saves.Earlier in the event, SRUdropped an 11-2 decision to Brown. Brunner scored both goals for The Rock.
