Larry G. Rettig, 74, of Fenelton, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024, in the comfort of his home.

Larry was born in Grove City on Jan. 19, 1950. He was the son of the late Ralph G. and Virginia Sweeney Rettig.

He was a 1970 graduate of Butler Area High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and the U.S. Army National Guard from 1984 to 2006, and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving in Iraq from June 2004 to November 2005. Larry retired from the U.S. Army National Guard in 2006. In his earlier years, he was employed as a welder at Pullman Standard in Butler.

Larry enjoyed the company of his family, watching TV and playing pool.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carol A. Southworth Rettig, whom he married in Slippery Rock on Aug. 13, 1986. Also surviving are his children, Chad E. Rettig and his wife, Meagan, of Fenelton, Jason Scott Rettig (Steven) of Alexandria, Va., John A. Rettig and his wife, Becki of West Sunbury, and Daniel L. Rettig and his wife, Lyndsey, of Virginia Beach, Va.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, a brother, Gary C. Rettig, his sister, Marlene E. Herold and her husband, Richard, all of Prospect; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda and William Andrews of Prospect, and Paul and Cathy Southworth of North Hills; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Bruce Rettig.

RETTIG — Friends of Larry G. Rettig, who died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, a United Methodist Pastor, officiating.

Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion posts.
