Wayne Tepke
Wayne Richard Tepke, 85, of West Deer Township, formerly of Monroeville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Concordia at Rebecca Residence, West Deer Township, with his wife by his side.
He was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Turtlecreek, to the late William and Dorothy I. (Haskins) Tepke. After graduating from Turtlecreek High School in 1957, Wayne joined the Army Corps of Engineers, serving in Korea along the Demilitarized Zone.
During his working years, he delivered for Liberty Baking, sold Bibles door to door, worked at a steel mill, drove a truck for Greater Pittsburgh Air Cargo, drove a school bus at Deer Lakes and Roenick and provided security at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community.
In 1985, faced with a terminal lung cancer diagnosis, he put his trust in God's healing power and received nearly 40 extra years of life. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, West Deer. Wayne enjoyed bicycling, swimming, steam trains and vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amelia J. (Pavlovic) Tepke; his sons, James (Sandra) Tepke of Adams Township and Bruce (Xingwei) Tepke of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and his grandchildren, Mia, Joseph and Victor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Tepke.
TEPKE — At his request, all viewing, services and burial for Wayne Richard Tepke, who died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, will be private. He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
