Mercyhurst leaving PSAC for Div. I

LOCK HAVEN — Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member Mercyhurst University has informed the PSAC it has accepted an invitation to join the Northeast Conference. The Lakers have begun the official process to reclassify to Division I status.

Mercyhurst plans to join the NEC for the 2024-25 academic year and will end its 16-year affiliation with the PSAC at the conclusion of this spring season.

SV graduate Page scores 5 goals

NEW WILMINGTON — Seneca Valley graduate and Westminster College sophomore attack Brady Page scored five goals and added an assist in the Titans’ 22-6 men’s lacrosse victory over Franciscan on Wednesday.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jorden Tate, also a Seneca Valley graduate, made eight saves to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Mars Middle School wins hockey title

ADAMS TWP — The Mars Area Middle School hockey team won the PIHL junilor varsity Tier 3A championship recently, defeating Butler, 4-3, in the title game at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

Mars ended the regular season with an overall record of 11-3-2. Team members include juniors Keegan O’Leary, Nicholas Rushe and Colin Stevenson; sophomores Xavier Bossola, Sean Crowley, Ethan Dasilva, Carter Gallagher, Jake Golebiewski, Adam Goul, Paul Konitzky, Joey Santa, Cooper Stevens and Dylan Van Horn; freshmen Luke Bowser, August Coffield, Alex Frengel, Daniel Maloney and Max Palmiero.
