Frederick Derringer

Frederick R. “Whitey” Derringer, 86, passed away Thursday at home.

He was born March 19, 1929, in Tarentum, son of the late Godfred R. and Jennie M. (Collins) Derringer.

He has lived most of his life in the Tarentum area.

Frederick was a fork lift operator for PPG Industries in Creighton for 47 years before retiring in 1991. He also worked for Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights for 24 years.

He was a member of the Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, and former long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights.

He enjoyed gardening and house painting, loved his work and especially loved his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Adela I. “Della” (Kocon) Derringer: his children, Frederick R. “Fred” (Christine D.) Derringer of Harwick, Dennis (Mary Ellen) Derringer of Butler and Deborah (Eric) Joswig of Humatella, Fla.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Derringer, in 1963; a brother, Richard Derringer; and two sisters, Shirley and Nancy Klabnik.

DERRINGER — Visitation for Frederick R. “Whitey” Derringer, who died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum.A prayer service will be at 9:20 a.m. Monday followed by a Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights, with the Rev. Thomas L. Gillespie, M.D., officiating.Interment will be private in Mt.
