Ruth Irene McEvoy, 82, of Butler, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 31, 1942, in Cabot, she was the daughter of Edgar Brake and Cora Neupert Brake.

She worked as a caretaker for 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler. Ruth was a dedicated mother to her four children. She enjoyed going to bingo and flea markets. She also loved spending time with her two grandsons, Hunter and Gavin.

Surviving are her children, James McEvoy Jr. of Lakeland, Fla., Gary McEvoy of Butler, Lorna Szymanski of Kittanning and John (Shonna) McEvoy of Butler; two grandchildren, Hunter (Rachel Uncapher) Szymanski of Worthington and Gavin (Jordin Noll) Szymanski; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James McEvoy; her parents; her brothers, Edgar Brake Jr., Fred Brake, Peter Brake, Harry Brake, Bill Brake and Bud Neupert; and sisters, Mary Schmeider and Jane Grube.

MCEVOY — Services for Ruth Irene McEvoy, who died Monday, April 1, 2024, will be private.
