Kathryn Barnes
Kathryn M. Barnes, 75, of Quality Life Services in Mercer, formerly of Harrisville, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, surrounded by her family after a short illness.
Kath was born Feb. 5, 1949, to James and Marian (Orr) Barnes. She was raised in Harrisville, and was always seen walking throughout the town and visiting with other members of the community.
Kath graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1968. She retired from the Harrisville Post Office.
She was an active member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church for her entire life, and loved to spend her time helping with Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
Kath, although never a mother herself, loved children and frequently babysat and would be found playing games and singing songs with them.
She loved baking and was always making goodies such as sugar cookies, homemade noodles and bread for her neighbors, family and church members, working in her garden and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and would cheer them on frequently.
Kath leaves behind her loving sister, Carol (Jerry) Amon of Mercer; a niece, Debby (Dave) Mortimer of Stoneboro, along with Debby’s two children; and a nephew, Tom Amon of Summerville, S.C.
Kath was welcomed into heaven by her parents.
