IN BRIEF

Central Electric doing line work

PARKER, Armstrong County — Central Electric Cooperative continues to upgrade and convert from single-phase to three-phase service its 3.1 miles of electric line at Wiley and Cherry Valley roads in Clinton Township.

Line clearing operations and preliminary pole setting are under way in the project that is expected to last several months.

All contract line clearing crews and CEC employees carry company-issued identification.

For questions, contact CEC's engineering department at 800-521-0570.

Higher gas prices spark inflation

WASHINGTON — Rising gas prices in March led to a slight increase in inflation, a sign that some of the broader economic impact from cheaper oil is fading.

The Labor Department says the consumer price index rose 0.2 percent in March. Inflation moved at that same pace in February, which ended three straight monthly declines caused largely by falling oil and gasoline prices.
