Sam Crosby, 11, of Boy Scout Troop 1418; Caden Adams, 13, of Troop 0412; and Joshua McCoy, 16, of Troop 1418 use semaphore flags to send coded messages to their teammates at the Sulphur Creek Semaphore challenge. Troop 1418 is from Cabot and Troop 0412 is from Pittsburgh.

This year’s Yukon Adventure saw 63 participants from five Trail Life troops during the weekend from Feb. 17 to 19 at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect, hosted by Troop 1418 of Cabot.

Trailmen ranging from ages 10 to 18 participated in a series of outdoor survival challenges, including wilderness first aid, ice floe improvisation, semaphore, improvised ladder construction and air rifle marksmanship.

Points were awarded at each station as troops traveled from one challenge to another on sleds built by the boys; although, this year’s sleds were fitted with wheels because temperatures were around 60 degrees.
