Bartholomew J. “Bart” Gardina, 71, of Butler, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford, following a more than 12-year battle with cancer.

Born in Butler on Dec. 7, 1952, he was a son of the late Francis H. and Augustine G. “Augie” Sassone Gardina.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He was a graduate and supporter of Duquesne University.

Bart was a purchasing manager at Marmon/Keystone, where he was employed for 39 years. He was a recipient of the company’s MarKey Award.

He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed beach vacations and trips to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed when he lived in Florida.

Extremely proud of his Italian heritage, Bart especially loved Italian music and baked goods.

Above all, he was devoted to his family and his many friends.

He is survived by his brother, John Gardina, of Butler; one niece, Adrienne Gardina, of Harrisburg, Pa; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

GARDINA — Friends of Bartholomew J. “Bart” Gardina, who died Saturday, March 23, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 pm. Tuesday in MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 146 N. Monroe St., Butler, PA 16001.
