Seniors accepted to science program
Two high school seniors from Butler County have been accepted into the Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University.
Nicolina Nanni of Butler High School and Alexandra Steighner of Seneca Valley High School are enrolled in this summer’s program. It started at the CMU campus June 30 and runs to Aug. 3. The students are taking classes in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, math and computer science.
The science initiative is selective with only 60 students out of 515 applicants statewide being accepted.
