John Bain
John William Bain, 103, of Butler, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 4, 1920, in Distant, and was the son of the late Vern and Reil (Rearick) Bain.
He retired from Pullman Standard. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II, where he received two Purple Hearts, Presidential Unit Citation with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with eight Bronze Service Stars and one Bronze Service Arrowhead. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, puzzles and taking care of his lawn.
Surviving are his children, John L. (Georgette) Bain of Mint Hill, N.C., and JoAnna (Alex) Kulin III of Butler; three grandchildren, Tammy Bain, Anna Mari Green and Alex Kulin IV; and nine great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alex V, Bryce, Janae, Kylee, Steven, Jacob, Kristin and Kaitlin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Bain, who passed away on May, 2, 2007; his grandson, John Paul Bain; three sisters; and a brother.
BAIN — Friends of John William Bain, who died Thursday, March 14, 2024, will be received from noon until the time of service at 1 p.m. Monday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
