Susan Beatty Barnhart, 77, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Chicora, died at 3:10 a.m. March 10 at Universal Health Care in Raleigh after an illness.

Born in Chicora, June 22, 1928, she was the daughter of Dr. George M. and Helen Frederick Beatty.

She had been a school teacher. In later years, she was a real estate agent; and she and her husband sold real estate until their retirement.

Mrs. Barnhart was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora and the Chicora Senior Center.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth P. Barnhart of Bethesda, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Amy) Pithers of Raleigh; and four grandchildren.

Her husband, Fred E. Barnhart, whom she married Sept. 29, 1950, died Dec. 19, 1994. A daughter also preceded her in death.

<B>BARNHART</B> — Friends of Susan Beatty Barnhart, who died Friday, March 10, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, where services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. James Higgins will officiate.
