Louis Gomori

Louis Gomori, 90, of Butler died Monday morning at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Sept. 20, 1924, in South Bend, Ind., he was a son of the late Steve and Agnes Gomori.

Louis was a retired certified welder, working for the Structural Ironworkers Union. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and had been a historian for the 83rd Thunderbolts. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 249 in Butler.

Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen (Dougan) Gomori, who he married July 28, 1953.

Also surviving are his two daughters, Donna Fredley and Joanna Smith, both of Butler; seven grandchildren, Bill, Danny, Angel, Aaron, Brent, Katrina and Eric; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alex Gomori of Boardman, Ohio; and two sisters, Irene Carter of Boardman, Ohio, and Violet Bozak of North Ridge, Calif.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and an infant sister.

GOMORI — Friends of Louis Gomori, who died Monday, July 27, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
