Marlene McIndoe

McIndoe

Marlene McIndoe of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, in Kingwood, Texas.

She was born in Butler on Aug. 17, 1933, to the late Henry and Waneata (Thompson) LaMotte.

Upon her graduation from Butler High School in 1950, she enrolled in the Butler Memorial Hospital school of nursing, graduating in 1954. She worked in the operating room at Butler Memorial Hospital until she moved to New Mexico. There, she married her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl W. “Scott” McIndoe. They eventually moved to Southern California, where they both lived and worked for nearly 30 years. They became parents to two sons, Eric and Doug.

Marlene worked as a nurse until her retirement in the early 1990s. She had many hobbies, but especially loved playing tennis, piano and working on jigsaw puzzles. Once she and Carl had both retired, they spent many of their remaining years traveling the country. They took such great pride spending time with their four grandchildren, Max, Avalon, KC and Kyle.

Marlene was such a kind and free spirit. She was always able to light up a room with her smile and sweet demeanor. So many friends and family will always carry the heartwarming memories of time spent with this wonderful woman.

In addition to her grandchildren, she also is survived by her two sisters, Carol McMichael of West Sunbury and Pamela (Dennis) Hand of Magnolia, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald LaMotte; husband, Carl; and sons, Eric and Doug.
