On Thursday, March 7, while President Joe Biden delivered an address before a joint session of the House and Senate, Alter Eagle’s host and podcast producer Laura Crago was in attendance as the guest of U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th.

Crago said there was an intensity in the air during the president’s constitutionally mandated address.

“It was really interesting to see how involved everyone is,” Crago said. “It’s exciting, just take what you see on TV and magnify that by 50. When you see people standing and clapping, it’s intense. You can feel it.”

Kelly was a guest on Alter Eagle “as a parent of someone who battles addiction” and said his time on the podcast motivated him to invite Crago.

“I've known the Crago family for years, and the one thing I've learned about Laura personally is her passion for helping others,” Kelly said. “As a parent of someone who battles addiction, I know firsthand what families nationwide live with and how important it is to address this topic.”

Alter Eagle’s current season is focused on the topic of addiction, but Crago said she will be releasing several special episodes in the coming days dealing with such issues as the potential closing of Cleveland-Cliffs and the imprisonment of Mark Fogle in Russia.

“I have some other people I’m going to talk with in the next week to do a short series based on my visit here,” Crago said Friday from Washington, D.C.

Crago said her time with Kelly at the nation’s capitol brought home the need for bipartisanship.

“Something Mike says a lot is ‘it’s not political,’” Crago said. “I think I’m starting to finally understand what that means. It’s not black and white. Just because someone is Republican does not mean they are necessarily completely on board with everything.”

The miniseries will be available on alter-eagle.com and on major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts. New episodes are released Mondays.
