'Drowsy Chaperone' pays homage to Jazz Age musicals
“The Drowsy Chaperone,” which pays homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age and examines the effect musicals have on the fans who adore them, will be staged Nov. 19 and 20 as the Butler High School fall musical.
As a Broadway fan listens to a recording of a fictional 1928 musical comedy, he is transported into the musical and the characters appear in his dingy apartment in this musical comedy.
The cast includes: Nick Furar, Travis Myers, Austin Uram, Daniel Terwilliger, Mico Alcantera, Sarah Bishop, Sarah Hinterlang, Theo Peterson, Logan Olszewski, Brian Tanner, Stephanie Miller, Shannon McCarren and Matt Cole.
The ensemble includes: Amy Achenbach, Ashley Aul, Samantha Barnhart, Gretchen Geibel, Bonnie Klopfer, Olivia Pascazi, Carly Ratica, Ben Rebmann, Nathan Rebmann, Robin Schmeider and Stephen Wuchina.
Dancers are: Lydia Anthony, Amelia Bishop, Liz Brady, Olivia Reddick and Chalice Streitman.
The director is Dale VanLaningham. Choreographer is Stephanie Marshall, with vocal direction by Catie Brown.
The orchestra conductor is student Haley Ratica, with music support by Tommy Walters.
Jennifer Mariacher is in charge of props, and Carol Albright, Deb Moran and Audrey Eberle are in charge of costumes.
Technical director is Robert Harrison, with technical support from Naomi Kosek and David Smith.
Student stage managers are Shannon Green and Megan Geibel.
Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 and 20 in the Butler Senior High auditorium.
Tickets are $5 and are available at May’s Music Shoppe or at the door.
