Master Sgt. Thomas A. Glass USAF retired, 74, of Lime Plant Road, Parker, Perry Township, Clarion County, died Saturday morning at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Glass was born on the family homestead on Lime Plant Road, Dec. 16, 1934, and he was the son of Cecil L. and Anna M. Hamilton Glass.

Mr. Glass was a patriotic American and was proud of his distinguished military career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served two tours in Vietnam. Master Sgt. Glass was the recipient of the Bronze Star, as well as various other medals and commendations. Prior to his 22-year career in the Air Force, Mr. Glass served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Glass retired from Military service in 1975.

He later was employed by Witco Chemical Co. in Petrolia, and Superior Absorbents in Emlenton.

He enjoyed working outside around his home; and he was a coin collector and a practical jokester. Mr. Glass was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed reading books about history and the military and enjoyed watching political and current events on television.

Master Sgt. Glass was married in Peru, Ind., Nov. 24, 1960, to the former Anna P. Schardan. Mrs. Glass preceded him in death June 15, 2008.

Mr. Glass is survived by a son, Warrant Officer Five Gregory G. Glass U.S. Army retired, of Evans, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. (Thomas) Tamara L. Ozechoski of Altoona and Carolyn R. Armstrong of Enterprise, Ala.; and five grandchildren, Kendra, Jennifer, Jacob, Marissa and Tyler.

Mr. Glass also is survived by five brothers, Robert L. Glass and his wife, Darlene, of New Castle, Maj. Carl L. Glass USAF retired and his wife, Ra, of Yorktown, Va., Stanley R. Glass of Pittsburgh, Technical Sgt. John E. Glass and his wife, Tess, of Cocoa, Fla., Sgt. Howard E. Glass USAF retired and his wife, Julie, of Grove City; three sisters, Bessie M. Rankin of Franklin, Virginia Myers and her husband, Duane, of Clarion and Karen Pittman and her husband, Lloyd, of New Cumberland, W.Va.; and a brother-in-law, Orville J. Anderson of Fort Wayne, Ind. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Glass was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Rice.

<B>GLASS</B> Friends of Master Sgt. Thomas A. Glass USAF retired, who died Saturday, April 11, 2009, will be received from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>hile Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, Clarion County. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Myers, a United Methodist pastor, officiating.Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. honor guard of Franklin.Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind.Memorial contributions in memory of Master Sgt.
