Butler Cubs amateur boxer Bobby Osterreider improved to 6-0 Saturday night by scoring a knockout at the Carrick Gym in Pittsburgh.
Osterreider stopped Johnny Mixom of Warren, Ohio, with a three-punch combination at 1:38 of the third round. Mixom was knocked out by the flurry.
Osterreider has four KO's among his six victories.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University sophomore Kevin Jewel has been named PSAC Male Track Athlete of the Week.Jewel broke the school record in the 800 meters, running a 1:51.65 at Ashland for the fastest time in the PSAC this season. He also ran the anchor leg of The Rock's 4x400 meter relay, which ran a season-best 3:20.71.
LOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University juniors Amy Halls and Casey Quinn have been named to the first and second All-PSAC women's lacrosse all-star teams.Halls, who made it on attack, is the first SRU player to be named to three all-conference teams.Quinn was named second-team as a midfielder.
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was named the Rookie of the Year after a landslide vote, becoming the NBA's first unanimous choice for the award in 21 years.
