Regis L. Snyder
Regis Laverne “Rege” Snyder, 74, of Slippery Rock passed away at the VNA Hospice in Butler on Friday following a short illness.
He was born in Pine Township, Mercer County, on Aug. 19, 1940, to Leroy Clayton “Red” Snyder and Mandy Gravatt Snyder.
He married Linda Lou Redmond on Dec. 4, 1965.
Regis was employed by Cooper Brothers in Slippery Rock as a truck driver until 1994 and then went to work for First National Bank of Slippery Rock as a courier and maintenance man until 2004.
He was a Protestant, and he served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1958 to 1964. Rege was a member and past president of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department where he was active from 1957 until 1988.
He was member and past commander of the Richard E. Craft American Legion Post 584 in Springfield Township. Rege enjoyed visiting and having coffee with others in the community.
He is survived by his wife Linda at home; a daughter, Joanne C. Robinson and her husband, R. Michael, of Waynesboro, Pa.; sister, Linda L. Croll and her husband, Jeffrey L., of Slippery Rock; four granddaughters, Trisha L. Ayers of Grove city, Juliana A., Alyssa L. and Alania L. Griffis, all of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lee Scott Snyder; and a brother, Ernest D.
SNYDER — Family of Regis Laverne “Rege” Snyder, who died on Friday, June 19, 2015, will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday. The family will observe a private committal service at Crestview Memorial Park on Tuesday.Memorial contributions may be given to the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Team, P.O.
