Mary T. McCandless
Mary T. McCandless, 101, of Concordia of Cabot, formerly of Mars, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday.
Born Oct. 22, 1915, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna Chotta. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.E. McCandless; her parents; her sons, Thomas and James; her brothers, John and Thomas; and her sister, “Kitty” Staley.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janet Relihan, and her husband, Frank; her grandchildren, James, Jason, Shannon (Shane) and Justin (Hollie); her great-grandchildren, Kyrstin, Seth, MacKenzie, Hattie, Sadie, Kelsea, Connor, Jordyn and Brielyn; a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Doris.
She was a member of the New Life Christian Ministries. She had a gift of giving and was a blessing to all who knew her. She was always open to share her faith with others. We know she will hear the words “Well done good and faithful Servant.”
Mary was instrumental in gathering special needs children in her home before there were schools for them. She was a founding member and vice president of the Butler County Association for Retarded Citizens and helped develop the education and work habits for Butler County students with special needs. She was a Cub Scout leader and Sunday school teacher.
Mary had worked for a real estate agency and an insurance company and later was employed by the Department of State, the Division of Law Enforcement and as a state inspector until her retirement.
MCCANDLESS — At the request of Mary T. McCandless, who died Friday, May 12, 2017, there will be no viewing or service.
