Donald J. Wagoner

Donald J. Wagoner, 82, of Evans City passed away Friday afternoon in UPMC Passavant, McCandless Township.

Born May 3, 1932, in Ambridge, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Genevieve Sohusky Wagoner.

Don was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Evans City, where he had been active as an usher and sang in the church choir.

He had worked in sales at Gimbel's Department Store for 24 years before it closed. He retired from Burlington Coat Factory in North Hills.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

Don was a history buff, enjoyed coin collecting, and often could be found scouring baseball fields, beaches and parks with his metal detector.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Don is survived by his wife, Patricia C. Canady Wagoner, who he married June 11, 1960; one son, Douglas Wagoner of Newton, Mass.; one granddaughter, Linda Wagoner of Newton, Mass.; two brothers, Henry “Hank” Wagoner of Florida and Thomas (Peggy) Wagoner of Ohio.

WAGONER — Friends of Donald J. Wagoner, who died Friday, March 27, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Evans City, with the Rev. William B. Henry Jr., interim pastor, officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.Burial will be in the Evans City Cemetery.If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, PA 16033 or to the Evans City Food Cupboard, c/o St. Peters Lutheran Church.Additional information may be obtained at www.kinsey-volzfuneralhome.com.
