Judith “Judy” Katherine Ball, 70, of Greece City passed away at 4:12 p.m. Friday in the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice following a brief illness.

Judy was born May 20, 1942, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Helen Dobson Mills. She was a member of the St. Alphonus Parish, having attended the St. Louis Catholic Church. She was most recently employed as the head cashier at Slater’s Meats and More and formerly had been employed at Zanella’s Mini Mart.

Judy was a “sports fanatic,” who was an avid Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. She also loved to play bingo.

Judy is survived by her husband, John A. Ball, who she married May 13, 1967; three daughters, Karen Ball of Butler, Rhonda (Jeff) Rumbaugh of Chicora and Tricia (Philip) Lebanno of York, S.C.; one son, David Ball of Chicora; seven grandchildren, Kenneth David “D.J.,” Mackenzie and Cassidy Maples, Isabella, Philip-Anthony and Marissa Lebanno and Michael Ball; and one great-grandson, Skyler Lee Maples. Two sisters, Mary Ellen Bell and Alda Young, both of Marion Center, and one brother, Thomas Caldwell of Parker also survive.

Her brother, Larry Caldwell of Antioch, Tenn., passed away on Jan. 26, 2013.

BALL — Friends of Judith “Judy” Katherine Ball, who passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Louis Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Father James Bedillion of the St. Alphonsus Parish officiating. The burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
