Moniot

Joseph A. Moniot, 93, of Ashville, N.Y., died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at WCA Hospital, Jamestown, N.Y.

An Ashville resident since 1951, he was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Sharpsburg, Pa., the son of Joseph Henry and Nora McLaughlin Moniot.

He was a graduate of The Butler Business College and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He owned and operated a Gravely Lawn and Garden Tractor dealership in Lakewood, N.Y., for more than 40 years.

Mr. Moniot was a communicant of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Panama, N.Y., and was a member of the Holy Name Society and Lions Club.

He sang and played harmonica at nursing homes with his daughter's group, the Key Notes.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Moniot; three daughters, Patricia E. Moniot of Jamestown, Martha A. Nickerson of Clymer and Jeanne M. Nickerson of Pavilion, N.Y.; four sons, Joseph V. Moniot of Stafford, Va. Thomas A. Moniot of Eugene, Ore., Robert K. Moniot of New York, N.Y., and Michael J. Moniot of Ashville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother Herbert Moniot of Pennsylvania, and a sister, Margaret Moniot Leise of Portersville, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha R. Moniot; a son, Phillip E. Moniot; four brothers, Joseph Eusevius "Sid," Julius "Mike," Vernon and Lloyd Moniot, and two sisters, Nora Marie Moniot, and Dorothy Moniot Wirtz.

<B>MONIOT </B>— Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>Lind Funeral Home</B>, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Panama. The Rev Jozef Dudzik will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Panama Union Cemetery.A Christian wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
