Scoop's back in the game
I’m back.
After three sub-par weeks to start the season, I have rebounded with a combined record of 21-2 the last two weeks.
That raises my record to 41-15.
Now if only the Steelers could rally like I have.
Let’s see if I can keep the mojo going:
• Upper St. Clair 46, Butler 6 — Things have been pretty rough this season for the Golden Tornado.
What looked like a promising season following a playoff berth last year has quickly deteriorated.
It doesn’t get any easier this week on the road against Upper St. Clair.
• Seneca Valley 50, Shaler 6 — The Raiders are licking their wounds following a 42-point loss to Central Catholic.
That doesn’t bode well for an inferior Shaler team.
• Franklin Regional 27, Knoch 12 — The Knights are a tough nut to crack. They are in every game, but they are missing something.
They will have trouble finding it this week.
• Mars 42, Uniontown 7 — The Planets appear unstoppable lately.
Uniontown certainly won’t be able to stop the M-train.
• Burrell 29, Freeport 7 — Amazingly, the Yellowjackets still have not scored a first-half point this season.
This could be a trap game for Burrell. Freeport’s defense has played well all year.
• Summit Academy 31, Deer Lakes 12 — The Knights have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs for the first time in school history.
This win will help that goal.
• Karns City 46, Keystone 9 — East Brady’s Jim Kelly will be honored at Karns City before this game.
Tyler Kepple played like Kelly last week with five TD passes.
The new K-Gun offense?
• Redbank Valley 30, Moniteau 17 — The Warriors have played hard all season, but still have nothing to show for it.
• Union 32, Kennedy Catholic 14 — This is a must-win for the Golden Knights.
Then again, aren’t they all?
• Brookville 36, A-C Valley 19 — The Falcons have some weapons in Dallas Wingard and Mike Suto.
A-C Valley’s problem has been stopping the other team’s weapons.
• Slippery Rock 36, Warren 16 — The Rockets are the only 5-0 team in the Butler County area and they have done it every way imaginable.
Offense. Defense. Special teams. All facets have been dominant.
Warren should be a good challenge for Slippery Rock a week before the Rockets face rival Grove City.
• Grove City 37, Saegertown 7 — The Eagles have dropped back-to-back games for the first time since 2009 and they have been ugly losses by a combined score of 71-20.
Nothing like a team like Saegertown at home to get healthy.
The Panthers have been outscored 286-14 this season and have gained a total of 274 yards in five games.
Scoop must be butter because he’s on a roll.
