John F. Connell

John F. "Jack" Connell, 86, of Butler, formerly of Ebensburg, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 25, 1919, in Cresson, Cambria County, he was the son of Michael "Don" and Arline Powers Connell.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and retired from the Ebensburg Borough Water Treatment Plant.

Mr. Connell was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was a cantor and adult altar server

He was an avid golfer and a devoted grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Banks Connell; his children, Mary Frances, wife of Thomas Truscello, of Ebensburg, Charlotte Williams of Goose Creek, S.C., Maureen, wife of Randy Smith, of Ebensburg, and John Anthony and his wife, the former Kim Eger, of Vintondale, Cambria County; and stepdaughters, Marie Sellers of Fayetteville, N.C., and Kathleen and her husband, Larry Campbell, of Lakeland, Fla., and a brother, Richard G. Connell of Boothwyn, Delaware County.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Melissa Isenberg, Matthew Connell, Shayna Truscello and Stephanie Connell; step-grandchildren, Robin Lake, Mark Campbell, Chris Sellers and Tracy Campbell-Scott; and a step-great-granddaughter, Brittany Scott.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Margaret McQuade; two brothers, Joseph and Daniel; and two sisters, Peggy Connell and Marie T. Ryan.

<B>CONNELL </B>— At the request of John F. "Jack" Connell, who died Sunday, April 9, 2006, there will no public viewing or visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, with Monsignor Arnold Gaus officiating. Committal will be at Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg.Arrangements are being handled by <B>Matevish and MateviSh Funeral HoMe</B>, Ebensburg.
