George D. Johns

George D. Johns, 71, of Butler passed away Sunday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born March 5, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of the late Ralph and Alice (Earley) Johns.

He was employed as a painter by the Pullman Standard Car Company with more than 20 years of service before the plant closed. He then was employed by Butler Auto Auction for eight years.

He was a member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church in Butler. He was an avid Steelers fan. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, Internet checkers and his camp in Anover, Ohio, where he was a member of a shuffleboard league.

Surviving is his wife, Doretha (Hetrick) Johns. They were married Nov. 3, 1972.

Also surviving are four children, Shelley (John) Toy of Greencastle, Pa., Jeff (Carol) Johns of Petrolia, Rick (Regina) Johns of Petrolia and Shawn (Nora) Johns of Butler; nine grandchildren, including Gregory and Dylan, who lived with their grandparents; one great-granddaughter and three step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

JOHNS — Friends of George D. Johns, who died Sunday, July 26, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 W. Old Route 422. The Rev.
