Jackson Township to move forward with planned residential development
JACKSON TWP — Supervisors voted to move into the second and final phase of a planned residential development called the Trails at Harmony Junction on Monday, Jan. 22.
The Trails at Harmony Junction, located near the intersection of Rylie Drive and Evans City Road in Jackson Township, will feature 93 single-family lots over 70 acres at its completion.
“There were really no outstanding conditions associated with the plan,” said township manager Chris Rearick. “All conditions from the tentative or the master plan approval were met, and they are simply seeking to move forward with the construction of infrastructure and the sale of lots in that phase.”
The development will be in the Seneca Valley School District and include walking trails and a pond.
Rearick also said the developer has offered an easement to the township for a regional trail connection.
“The township is hoping to connect to the park and the trail system in this corridor of the township to areas of the south, including the Tollgate School Road corridor and other developing corridors within the township to make the community more pedestrian and bicycle friendly,” he said.
Allan Osterwise, vice chairman, said he thinks the new development lots will move quickly once construction is completed.
“Not only do you have access to accessibility to Pittsburgh and points north, but you also have all these trail connections. It’s a very livable community,” Osterwise said.
Construction for the second phase will begin in early spring.
“Our aim is to get the construction of that facilitated within the next two years,” Rearick said.
