PITTSBURGH — Police say a man is in custody in the shooting death of his brother.

Authorities said a 39-year-old man was shot in the chest on an East Pittsburgh street shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the victim was taken to UPMC Mercy in critical condition but died later in the morning.

Investigators said the man's brother surrendered to Allegheny County homicide detectives on Saturday afternoon.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police say a phony Facebook page was being used to solicit donations for a city officer who suffered an on-duty heart attack last month.Police haven't charged anyone with creating the page that purported to belong to Officer Ray Kain, a 33-year veteran who was stricken on March 19.Whoever was running the page was “friending” officers throughout the 800-plus member department and soliciting donations to an address in Durham, N.C., claiming they'd be used for Kain's benefit.Whoever created the page used some of Kain's own photos and personal information.The 56-year-old officer is recovering from bypass surgery.

MCKEES ROCKS — The Mall at Robinson was expected to reopen a day after it was evacuated when police said a bomb threat was found in a department store dressing room.Allegheny County emergency dispatchers say they were called at 1:17 p.m. Sunday about the threat in the Pittsburgh suburb.Officials say the typewritten note found in a Sears store implied that three explosive devices were present.The mall had been scheduled to close at 6 p.m. and never reopened after police and fire units gave the all-clear about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
