Immediately after the Spirit of Christmas Parade in Butler in 1973, Santa retired to his specially constructed headquarters in Diamond Park as those in the crowd eagerly awaited a chance to visit. The former Nixon Hotel is shown at rear. That site is now occupied by Morgan Management Center. The city's 44th Spirit of Christmas Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. In addition to Santa, the parade will feature the Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band, the Moniteau Flames & Flickers, and the General Butler Vagabonds. Chicora native Sarah Wilson will sing at the reviewing stand.
