PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are looking for two men who robbed a candy store of $125 and a $40 box of fine chocolate truffles.
Police say the two men acted as if they had guns when they entered the Betsy Ann Chocolates shop downtown just before 4 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the men never showed guns to the only employee on duty. There were no customers in the store at the time and nobody was hurt.
GREENVILLE — Mercer County authorities say they're still searching for the motive of stabbings that left a man dead and his adult daughter in critical condition.Twenty-one-year-old Ronald Victor Machado, of Jamestown, and 20-year-old Krystle Weaver, of Fowler, Ohio, remain in the Trumbull County Jail in Ohio where they were arrested Thursday.They are charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, conspiracy and burglary for the attack on 44-year-old Thomas Lorigan and his daughter, 22-year-old Heather Turk.
CONNEAUT LAKE — Financially troubled Conneaut Lake Park will not open this weekend, the second straight year the 116-year-old Crawford County attraction remains closed.Boat docks and a recreational vehicle area known as Camperland are open, however.The amusement park used to be open through Labor Day and provided summer jobs for about 200 teens.
PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia-area teenager who survived a September suicide jump from a ninth-floor window vows to walk with two canes at his high school graduation on June 10.Eighteen-year-old Jordan Burnham also says he wants to dance on June 6 at his Upper Merion High School senior prom.Burnham spoke from a wheelchair at a congressional briefing Thursday on the stigma of mental illness. Speakers included actress Marcia Gay Harden, and Minnesota Rep. Jim Ramstad. Burnham got a standing ovation from advocates, congressional staffers and others present.
