Attendees peruse the booths and attractions at last year's Cranberry Home Show. This year's show, set for Friday, Saturdayand Sunday, is expected to attract between 8,000 and10,000 people.
3-day event expected to draw 10,000

MARSHALL TWP — About 120 vendors are preparing for the ninth annual Cranberry Home Show.

The home show will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh — Cranberry from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Show producer Dominic Baragona said this year's show is poised to be bigger than in previous years and is expected to attract between 8,000 and 10,000 people.

Featured attractions for the show include two tiny houses featured on HGTV, one measuring 380 square feet and the other 140 square feet.

“This has become the hottest thing. It tripled my attendance” Baragona said of the houses. “People are absolutely fascinated by what can be Done in a small space.”

People can tour the houses at the show.

Those who go to the show also will have the chance to see the remodeled and almost completed DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh — Cranberry.

“It's not on cement or hard floor,” Baragona said of the show. “It's on beautiful carpeting.”

The hotel's remodeling is the reason why the home show is being held this month instead of January like in previous years.

Baragona said the change in seasons could bring about a different approach for people attending the show.

“In the winter time, they (visitors) are just thinking and browsing,” he said. “But by the time April rolls around, they have got a good idea of what they want to get. They are going to walk in, ready to sign up with the exhibitors.Next year's show will be held in the third week of February.Baragona said the advantage for people to attend the home show is meeting vendors in a one-on-one environment.“Millions of dollars of business are generated from these shows,” he said.He also said the smaller number of vendors allows for people to not feel crowded.“You can see the entire show from 45 minutes to an hour,” he said. “That's the idea of this show. We don't believe in having 30 of each kind of exhibitor, but we are well-represented in every category people could want.”Township manager Jerry Andree said the home show brings attention to the “rapidly growing residential component of southern Butler County and northern Allegheny County.”“It brings attention to the quality of life, which attracts all those new residents,” Andre said.He also said the home show is important for local economic success.“By just bringing attention to the region, it improves the attractiveness and therefore the interest of investing in new homes and existing homes in the region,” Andree said. “It just shows a bright future for the southern Butler County area.”
