Cranberry offers plenty of summer activities, events

Here is a list of the summer events in Cranberry Township

• Throughout summer — The Cranberry Township Parks and Recreation Department will host a variety of programs for children and adults including water park swimming, summer camps, fitness and sports programs, wellness programs and golf at the Cranberry Highlands Municipal Golf Course.

• Summer Concerts Thursdays in the Park — Cranberry Rotary Amphitheater in the Community Park off Route 19. All performances start at 7 p.m.; July 14, East Winds Symphonic Band; July 21, Mahajibee Blues; July 28, Softwinds; Aug. 4, Allegheny Brass Band; Aug. 11, No Bad Ju Ju.

• Friday Lunchtime Concerts — Cranberry Municipal Center Gazebo off Rochester Road. All concerts start at noon: July 22, Randy Shoup; July 29, Pittsburgh Banjo Club; Aug. 5, Sandy Lusco; and Aug. 12, Butler Notables.

• Fridays and Saturdays beginning in June — Farmers Market from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Fridays behind the Municipal Center off Rochester Road; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Community Park Fire Station on Route 19.

• June 11 — Southern Butler County Garden Club Tour, a self-guided tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. of several gardens in Cranberry Township and surrounding areas. Presale tickets are $15. For information, call Rose Romboski at 724-772-7834.

• July 4 — Race for Virginia & Friends 5K Run/Walk, 8:30 a.m., Cranberry Community Park Jaycees Shelter off Route 19. Registration is $20. Registration information is available at: www.raceforvirginia.org.

• July 7 to 9 — Cranberry Township Community Chest Community Days. A host of events will be spread over three days and include a carnival, live bands all three days and fireworks. For information, visit the website at: www.ctchest.org.

• July 23-24 — American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, North Boundary Park. For information, visit the website at www.relayforlife.org/ pacranberry.

• Aug. 20 — Cranberry Township Aquathlon & 5K Run/Walk, 8:30 a.m. at North Boundary Park. Proceeds will benefit the Southwest Butler County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
