Concordia planning expansion project
Concordia Lutheran Ministries has announced its Lund Care Center Expansion Capital Campaign, "A Time to Build."
The campaign's theme is based on the Old Testament writings of wise King Solomon in the Book of Ecclesiastes.
According to U.S. Census Bureau, there were more than 35 million Americans older than 65 in 2000. Government projections indicate this number will more than double to 71 million in 2030 and jump again to more than 86 million in 2050.
Clearly, Concordia Lutheran Ministries will face needs greater than ever before. Even more problematic is the fact that in about 25 years, nearly 10 million people will be older than 85.
This raises hard decisions for service providers, including Concordia. How will we best serve those who will need care in the coming years?
First, we are guided in all our actions by our belief in God. Our vision statement, "Serving the Triune God by providing for the needs of His people," is our reason for being.
Consequently, when we look at these statistics, we don't see cold hard numbers, we see individual children of God.
Unlike other entities where profit margins often determine whether they stay in business or not, Concordia is inspired to serve God's people for years to come. This is why investing in the future of those we serve is more important now than ever.
If we are to stay true to our mission, we must prepare. Fortunately, Concordia has always taken a long-range view of providing elder care.
Our "continuum of care" approach will continue to be the framework that will support our future efforts.
This $12 million project, begun in July, will assure Concordia's position as the facility of choice for years to come. Completion of the project is planned for September 2006.

Private rooms, food service and rehabilitation services afford a competitive advantage. In addition, administration is not separated from care-giving.
"It is important that we are right there. Decision-makers are next to staff and won't lose touch with residents and caregivers," said Keith Frndak, president and CEO.
"This kind of proximity helps to maintain a family atmosphere. The units will accommodate 26 or 27 residents."
We want the best environment available for the comfort of our residents. Our plans are characterized by an overarching commitment to quality.
Success means 100 percent participation from our key stakeholders — our board of directors, our executive team, our congregations, our employees, and friends. As friends and supporters of Concordia's ministries, you will be given the opportunity to respond in love to our needs.
A gift to Concordia Lutheran Ministries can make a significant difference in the lives of many. In fact, you can provide gifts in a variety of ways.
We are happy to discuss other giving or naming opportunities for your family structured to meet your needs. If you are interested, please contact the development office at 724-352-1571, Ext. 266.
