Cavs losing Love for next seriesCLEVELAND — Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will miss at least the team’s next playoff series with a dislocated left shoulder, a damaging blow to Cleveland’s NBA title hopes.Love was hurt in the first quarter of Sunday’s win over Boston as the Cavs completed a first-round series sweep. He got his left arm locked with Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk while chasing a loose ball. Olynyk yanked down on Love’s arm and his shoulder popped out of its socket joint.The Cavs said Love sustained a torn ligament and bruising. He is seeking additional medical opinions.

Angels deal Hamilton back to RangersARLINGTON, Texas — Josh Hamilton is back with the Texas Rangers.Less than halfway through a $125 million, five-year contract, Hamilton was traded to AL West rival Texas with cash on Monday for a player to be named or cash.The Angels are expected to pay most of the remaining $80.2 million Hamilton is owed.

Dodgers’ McCarthy out for seasonLOS ANGELES — Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy will miss the rest of the season with a torn elbow ligament, creating a hole in the middle of the rotation for a Los Angeles team with World Series aspirations.McCarthy left Saturday’s game at San Diego in the sixth inning when he gave up his third home run of the night in an 11-8 victory. He had an MRI that revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Changed format for Match PlaySAN FRANCISCO — Rory McIlroy arrived at Harding Park on Monday knowing he’ll be at the Match Play Championship at least until Friday.So will the rest of the 64-man field.In a format change to avoid the single elimination that often sent big names home early, the Match Play will be round robin featuring 16 groups of four players.
