Former Butler resident Bernice Nicklas will turn 106 on Dec. 23 at her home in Dallas, Texas, where her daughter, Carolyn Johnson, says she is the reigning queen of White Rock Court.

Johnson said Nicklas exercises once per week with her coach and recently visited the local grocery store twice to get vaccinations and browse the cookie and produce aisles.

Regarding activities at her senior living complex, Johnson said Nicklas made a charcuterie board in the fall and looks forward to the gift she will draw at the upcoming white elephant party.

Nicklas is a licensed beautician and always likes to wear lipstick and earrings and have her hair styled.

She was born in 1917 and raised in Adrian, Pa. She graduated from Kittanning High School and lived in Butler from 1942 to 2015.

Nicklas was married to Brownie Nicklas from their wedding in 1942 until his death in 1979.

A birthday celebration with family and friends was held on Dec. 17 at White Rock Court in Dallas, where she moved in 2015 to be near her daughter and son-in-law.

Greeting cards, which Nicklas greatly enjoys, can be sent to Bernice Nicklas, White Rock Court, 9215 White Rock Trail, Unit 228, Dallas, Texas, 75238.
