Ten BC3 students receive Department of Defense-funded financial awards
Ten students in Butler County Community College’s computer information systems career programs and in its computer science transfer program received financial awards this fall through the college’s use of a U.S. Department of Defense grant that emphasizes cybersecurity education.
The college awarded a total of $7,500 this fall to the students in programs that have collectively grown in enrollment by 32 percent since January.
BC3 students Justin Choltco of Apollo, Isaak Estes of Renfrew, Victor Garrido of Butler, Ethan Huffman of Butler, Austin Norris of Butler, Steven Pander of Portersville, Shannon Schultz of Zelienople, Connor Smith of Harmony, Riley Wach of Butler and Zachary Witty of Valencia were selected this fall to receive the $750 awards.
Choltco, Estes, Huffman, Smith and Witty are enrolled in BC3’s networking and cybersecurity program; Garrido, Norris and Wach, in computer science; Pander, in programming specialist; and Schultz, in website development specialist.
