Chester P. 'Sonny' Dunkerley Jr.

Chester P. “Sonny” Dunkerley Jr., 66, a 33-year resident of the North Liberty-Plain Grove Road, Grove City, in Liberty Township, Mercer County, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a 2-month illness

Born in Grove City, Nov. 15, 1944, he was the son of Chester Dunkerley Sr. and Margaret Winder Dunkerley.

He married Rebecca “Becky” Carothers on May 3, 1969.

Mr. Dunkerley retired in 2007 from A&E Heating and Cooling of East Butler, where he was employed for 12 years.

He was a Protestant, and he attended the North Liberty Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Becky, at home; a son, Dave Dunkerley of Grove City; and a sister, Rose Mary Cochran and her husband, Donald, of Grove City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Dunkerley.

<B>DUNKERLEY</B> — Funeral services for Chester P. “Sonny” Dunkerley Jr., who died Monday, April 11, 2011, will be at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave, Grove City, Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Robert McCreight, interim pastor of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be at North Liberty Cemetery, Liberty Township, Mercer County.
